Chuc Finish Carpentry started with a dream—and a tool belt full of determination.

 

In 1992, a Guatemalan immigrant arrived in Tigard, Oregon, chasing opportunity and a better life for his family. He didn’t speak much English, but he had the kind of work ethic you can't teach. So he did what true craftsmen do: he showed up, tool belt on, knocking on job site trailers asking for work..

Eventually, one opened.

 

A kind-hearted general contractor took a chance on him, encouraging him to enroll in night classes at PCC to pursue his GED. He earned that, plus his B-WEST certification, all while juggling two jobs during the day and school at night.

​

Armed with new skills and even more grit, he returned to the field—and by 1995, he was officially licensed, bonded, insured, and running his own show. Over the next decade, he collaborated with top homebuilders like Legend Homes, crafting finish work for custom homes that didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them.

Then came the 2008 recession. Like many in the trades, he felt the hit hard. But resilience runs deep in our story. He adapted, stuck with it, and by 2011, work picked back up.

 

Since then, Chuc Finish Carpentry has contributed to the construction of hundreds of homes throughout the Portland Metropolitan area.

Today, Chuc Finish Carpentry continues to grow—blending decades of craftsmanship with a fresh perspective. With the next generation now involved, we bring together old-school skill and modern design to deliver finishes that feel thoughtful, tailored, and timeless.
